My Multimedia teacher is putting us through training to make websites. I%26#039;m going a little ahead though. My best friend and I are planning on making a website and we%26#039;ve got everything we want on it. BUT, the problem is registering for a domain name. I was wondering if there is any possible way to sign up under our school%26#039;s server. That%26#039;s what my teacher%26#039;s is located under. He has the domain name but when his frontpage loads it defaults to the school. How can I do that? Or do you know any other really good websites we could register under? Help is greatly appreciated. :D
HTML [website] HELP PLEASE.?
When I made my site, http://www.rubikscubegeek.co.nr , I used www.freewebs.com to host the site and www.freedomain.co.nr to get a co.nr ending which is free.
You most likely can%26#039;t get it through your school but I like my address and its FREE. I love free :)

You need to pay for that and get a dns registration. Just pay for a host like hostmonster, bluehost, etc..
Other Replys:If you%26#039;re talking about something like http://www.teachersname.yourschool.edu, the network admin has to set that up. If you%26#039;re talking about something like http://www.yourname.com, you have to buy the name from the registrar - but most private people (as opposed to huge corporations) buy the name from a hosting provider. I buy mine through http://www.godaddy.com.
You can also register a name with a dynamic DNS service, like http://www.dyndns.com/ or http://www.noip.com/ for free, but you%26#039;ll have to run the web server on your own computer (which isn%26#039;t difficult - download XAMPP).
