You can use Microsoft Sharepoint designer 2007 to design your html if you really want to, however, SPD was developed to mostly work with SharePoint Sites. In order to use it for that, you will have to have SharePoint running on your computer, or a remote server that you have access to.
If you need to use a site editor, Microsoft Expression Web or Dreamweaver may be more suitable for you.
Or you could learn HTML and CSS and code pages by hand like I do which might sound harder than it is.

I just recently registered a new domain name. I am wondering how I would create a sub domain (ex. email.example.com), and have it transfer to an outside webpage. (ex gmail.com). I am using xampp for my web server and using EditDNS for my dns server. I have already tried creating a CNAME record but when I attempt to go to the created sub domain, I receive a Server Not Found error in firefox. If you do not keep registration of domain name paid up you loose it.If no information shows up means the domain name currently is not registered and you can just re-register it. It would not be the first time people think they own a domain name when it is legally registered to someone else.

You can check ownership by looking up the %26quot;WHOIS%26quot; on the domain. On the page you mention, look at the .com at the bottom of the list and you will see a red rectangle that says %26quot;WHOIS%26quot;.
You have a problem though. It was registered privately which means that the data is not visible.
It looks like it was registered through 1and1.com. If you want to access the domain, go to 1and1.com and then use the domain name as your username (domain.com). You should be able to request a lost password. The password will be mailed to the contact on the account.
If you are purchasing this domain from an individual person and not a registrar company, you will want them to walk you through the acquisition process.

This is my current setup....
Windows 2003 server web edition running IIS 6.0 + Windows XP machine of my own + various other machines all on a LAN using a Netgear DG834PN router with a static IP address. My question is this : How do i configure IIS 6.0 to host multiple websites on the same server ? Once they are setup how do i view them locally on my LAN from my XP machine and assuming my domains are registered and administered by a 3rd party which i have login access to how do i point the domains to my server so that each domain will serve up the right pages on the net ?

I haven%26#039;t done this personally, but I believe you%26#039;ll need to perform several steps:
1. Follow instructions in Microsoft link below for hosting multiple web sites in IIS using a single IP address.
2. The same link gives hints about setting up a local client computer. I believe you should test by using a local HOSTS file on your Windows XP computer to map your various internet web sites (www.mysite.com) to the local, non-routable IP address of the Windows 2003 server (e.g., 192.168.0.100). I will assume you will assign a static IP address to your Windows 2003 server, or configure DHCP in your Netgear router to always assign the same IP address to your Windows 2003 server.
3. You must configure your Netgear router to allow incoming traffic from the internet on port 80 to forward to your Windows 2003 server.
4. The last step is the one I have least experience. I believe you must work with your 3rd party domain registrar to have %26quot;domain pointers%26quot; or %26quot;domain forwarding%26quot; installed to point queries for your domains (mysite.com) or your individual web page (www.mysite.com) to the static IP address provided by your ISP. I have a domain name registered with generic DNS and I have a server that is running and connected to a network and runing fine. I was able to configure the mail part but I can%26#039;t get the website to run. Whenever I type the IP address on IE6 I get an error that says

Im not and expert, but it could be a firewall problem, try turning off the router firewall or the windows one on the computer ( in security center )
And windows software is also not the best for web stuff ( unsafe ) try apache ( linux and windows compatible )
Dont be scared by linux, try ubuntu

i doubt its a firewall problem, i would also advocate for ubuntu linux, but if you wont do that:
try opening the site from the server itself using 127.0.0.1 as the address, next use the actual ip of the server to see if the problem still exists there. my guess is that your webserver software is seeing the request but doesnt recognize that the www.whatever.com corelates to a folder on the server.

Essentially you are telling the Internet what the IP address of the web-page server%26#039;s DNS server is.
It would help if you had a %26#039;static%26#039; ip address, that way you wont have to go in each time and change it if your ip address changes.
I do remember my ID and Password very correctly. But when I sign in, The message displayed is %26quot;Wrong ID or Password%26quot;. Since my ID is very old, I donot remember the details provided during my registration.

Other Replys:When it comes to webspace design, you either need to hire someone to do it (not cheap) or create it yourself using some sort of html software (or notepad but i wouldn%26#039;t suggest that). If you do it yourself, you are really just going to have to play around and find what looks good to you.
i don%26#039;t know about hosting, i use 1and1.com, very good deal and has scripting support. I think you can pay with paypal at 1and1 too, maybe that helps your credit card situation.
If you don%26#039;t already have ecommerce software there are some free ones such as oscommerce that you set up yourself (very easy and have good helps). oscommerce also comes with a template that will start your site out looking nice but i suggest customizing it so your site doesn%26#039;t look stock.

With the Vista/Longhorn generation of Microsoft products I%26#039;m seeing that the desktop OS is purely that, a desktop OS and well see about the server OS when Microsoft actually releases Longhorn. Get yourself down to your local libary see if you can get a copy of HTML for dummies or webdesign for dummies, there usually pretty good. Any website realted book is a good start really.

you%26#039;ll need a public IP to host your own email.
Your domain provider needs an IP address to point your MX Records to if you want to host the emails coming and going from you@yourdomain.com.
Otherwise, just let your domain host handle it. Trust me, it%26#039;s a LOT less headache that way..!

You will need a static (publicly viewable IP) in order to send and recieve email, provided you ask for an email service when you go to purchase your static addresses. I use Savvis, they offer everything you could possibly need to have your own high speed DNS, HOSTING, HTTP, FTP, POP3, SMTP, anything you need they offer it for probably the cheapest price ive seen.
